Instagram Round-Up 2: Four Months of Snapping
It’s time for my quarterly Instagram round-up. I don’t know where the time has gone – it feels like just a few weeks since my first Instagram round-up and here we are, about to launch into Instagram Round-Up 2!
Instagram is my favourite social media platform – I love scrolling the beautiful pictures and getting a real snapshot of people’s lives (pun totally intended! Teehee).
I put off joining for a long time because of my fear of posting things about my kids online and because I am anonymous blogger. But when I signed up, I realised that I didn’t need to compromise on this stuff – there are quite a few “faceless kids” Instagram communities that I can join up with, and other hashtags can still apply even if it’s just the back of your child’s head.
The main faceless hashtags I use are:
- #MummyShot
- #SecretLivesOfLittles
- #BacksOfLittles

So, my first snap for Instagram Round-Up 2 is this picture of my big girl bounding across the stepping stones at Bolton Abbey. It really shows off her fearless side. You can only see half the trail in the picture, but they’re actually past halfway already at this point! It’s certainly a daunting prospect when you’re stood on the bank and, as you can see, the water was quite high that day and is about a metre deep in places. But over she galloped!

This photo pretty much sums up our summer holidays. 2017 was the year that Jenny really got into scootering. Whether it was a trip to the shops, a morning at the skate park, or a stroll along the promenade, the scooter came too! It was lovely to see her whizzing around and having so much fun. It also meant she was actually begging to go out on family walks (which is perfect for hubby and I, but doesn’t always go down well with the girls).

Hehe this photo always makes me smile – a little snap of Charis wearing goggles and pretending to paint her chalkboard! I have no idea why but it kept her entertained for ages! So funny!

I love the feeling of space and freedom on this photo! I never set up photos for my Instagram feed – I just try to capture what is going on in our everyday lives – so this leap is 100% pure joy from the heart of a 6 year old girl at the seaside. If you’re planning on holidaying in North Wales, we’ve got a post all about the adventures we got up to.

Our family all live a long way away from us and so we regularly go on long car journeys to visit them. This particular journey, Jenny found a pack of post-it notes on the back seat and covered her entire window with little drawings. I guess its the 6 year old’s version of Instagram – little squares depicting her life and thoughts.

This amazing unicorn cake was made from scratch by my super-amazing hubby! It was for Charis’s 3rd birthday. We have decorated cupcakes before but never attempted anything like this! We were supposed to be doing it together but I was so busy with work that I just didn’t have time so he went ahead and did it himself.

This was a fab family day out at an event called Mud Fest Manchester #MudFestMCR. It was hosted by Our Kid so that we could try out their new outdoor range from Grass & Air. The girls absolutely loved it – there was den-building, slack-lining, hide-and-seek, and a camp fire to roast marshmallows on.

And my final photo for Instagram Round-Up 2 is this gorgeous display of Christmas lights. I love photos with lots of colour in them and the way these lights were displayed in crates just looked amazing! Christmas is nearly here are we’re so excited for it here in the Lucy household! Feel free to have a browse of our Christmas-related blog posts for gift inspiration, craft ideas, and stories to get you in the Christmas mood.
This has been such a lovely trip down memory lane for me. I hope you’ve enjoyed the photos too and the stories behind them. Thanks for joining me at Instagram Round-Up 2 and I hope to see you again in another 4 months!

Some lovely snaps of your instagram round up 2. Great captions of memories. Love the stepping stones, painting with goggles (super cuter) and post-it note ones.#Blogcrush
I really love this, you got some amazing photos and I’m sure it was hard to choose at times! #blogcrush
Those are such sweet photos, I love the post-it notes on the window! Thank you for those hashtags, I’m not too comfortable with sharing closeups of my kids. Have followed you on Instagram 🙂 Now I’d love to know how you create a roundup post like this off Insta? #Blogcrush
I love the November one where it looks like they are hatching a plot. You may convince me of Instagram yet – certainly the social network I understand least currently
This is cool, Lucy. I have an Instagram account (or 2?), but I never know what to put on them. I don’t take selfies (or at least, I don’t take any I like lol), I don’t understand pictures of food, and even if I do manage to get a picture of my son he refuses to let me post them anywhere. Any ideas for a hopeless Gen X who just doesn’t get the concept of Instagram? lol
Dropped by from #Blogcrush and I commented and shared.
Merry Cjristmas to you and yours!!!
Lovely post! I don’t include my kids faces either, useful to see those hashtags that you use. Thanks!
I love the Christmas lights! #BlogCrush
I love the post its on the window, so cute!! I’m so bad at remembering to take photos these days, I always used to be the one permanently viewing life through a camera and got so bored of it a few years ago that I gave it up – not great now I’m blogging and trying to remember to instagram!! Looks like a very full and happy few months for you 🙂 #BlogCrush
Gorgeous round up of photos! I love the chalk photo, that is definitely something I would find my youngest daughter doing. Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
Ah, you know I love my Instagram! Gorgeous photos, I especially love the one at the beach, it’s just perfect! I love taking snaps when we’re out and about, I’ve always loved photography, but I love that Instagram has fuelled my love for it. Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

I love your Instagram! My favourite picture is the stepping stones. Although I’m not sure I could have watched at the time! #sharingthebloglove
That unicorn cake is amazing! I’m thinking of attempting to make one for my daughters 3rd birthday in March. I hope it tasted as good as it looked! Given you an Insta follow too 🙂 #SharingTheBlogLove
I really love Instagram too – I used it for years now – lovely photos. Sarah #sharingthebloglove
I also have a faceless Instagram account. Your photos are gorgeous. Love the painting in goggles!
