The Colossal List of Kids’ Party Ideas
Written in association with Party Bags & Supplies
I LOVE birthdays! – I love buying the presents and imagining the squeals of excitement as the paper is torn off; I love writing up guest lists and handing out party invitations; and I love decorating the party venue with streamers and homemade bunting!
If you’ve got a kids’ party coming up, though, you’ll know the pressure to get it right! You have to choose something your child will enjoy and is within the party budget. You’ll have to make tough decisions about how many friends they can invite and what to include in the party bags. And then you have the problem of trying to choose kids’ party food (not the easiest task if, like me, you have a child who won’t eat chips! Haha).
But there really are so many great kids’ party options out there these days so I thought I’d put all the ideas down in one place to give you a bit of inspiration. Some are for lots of children, some are for just a few select friends, but, with over 50 ideas, there’s sure to be something of interest.
**PLUS – win a free kids’ party tablewear set from Party Bags and Supplies at the end of this post…!**

my mum invited my school friends over and we had parties x
with my family mostly
I had a party with some friends from the street
Birthday parties in a hall near my house.
My birthday was in the summer so it was almost always lovely garden parties with my brothers and cousins next door! It was so much more simple but so much fun.
How did you celebrate your birthday when you were a child?
quietly as my birthday falls in the long summer holidays
I always had a birthday party at home when I was a child. A party tea, cake and games.
i had a few friends over for tea
We always had a cake and a party at home with a few friends and some games!
With my family. I didn’t often have a party.
I used to have parties at home and play pass the parcel
I cannot remember, its that long ago ! I am sure that I would have had a good time but thats why we celebrate the grandchildrens birthdays and make them memorable.
I had one party once when I was about seven and I played up so badly that my mum said I would never have another party. I didnt!!!!!
We had a family gathering with a cake.
I usually had friends over for a tea party 🙂
When I was younger it was always a traditional birthday party at home with a few friends, though I had a party at Hollywood Bowl for my 8th birthday! Once I got to 9 or 10 I would be allowed to choose one or two friends and we would go somewhere for a day out; I remember one year going to Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park.
I remember one year having a bouncy castle for my birthda party, we had so much fun!
My Mum used to throw me a tea party
I used to have brilliant birthday parties, mum did wonderful food and mum and dad organised a range of great games.
Mum baked lots of treats for us and we had traditional games. I remember feeling special.
In true 80’s stay-at-home mum style – 10 kids round our house for a party – pass the parcel, musical chairs, party tea etc!
I had a surprise birthday party when I was 13
As a child in the 70’s birthday parties were simple and involved friends coming over to our house and playing pass the parcel and musical statues and a birthday tea and homemade birthday cake.
We used to have a party at our house with all my school friends and then when I got a bit older we used to go to the Chinese restaurant just down the road from us.
School & other friends invited for a party at our house. Most memorable was I had a garden slide for my birthday & my dad set it up in the hall so guests slid into the party. We all loved it but Mum wasn’t so keen on the idea
I usually had a home party with party games such as pass the parcel, musical statues and chairs and a home made cake with pink buttercream icing x
When I was a child there weren’t Wacky Warehouse / Jungle Jim style places to go to, so all my birthdays were ‘at home’ parties with an entertainer (if I was lucky!)
I used to have a party x
