Themed Activities To Entertain The Kids At Home (part 2)

A few weeks ago, I gave you a some ideas to keep your kids entertained at home through the school holidays. However, I’m sure the inevitable cries of “I’m bored” are starting to kick in now so I’ve got another post rammed full of fun themed activities!
We love following a programme of themed activities as it gives a bit of continuity to the stuff that we’re doing. It also helps to keep the kids engaged and looking forward to the next activity.
40 Themed Activities
China
- Watch Mulan
- Buy a Chinese takeaway
- Use some calligraphy pens
- Try cooking your own noodles
- Use chopsticks (or pencils) to pick objects up
- Print some Chinese words off the internet to copy
- Make a fan by folding paper into a concertina
- Watch Kung Fu Panda
Under The Sea
- See some fish at a local garden centre or pet shop
- Watch The Little Mermaid
- Visit the swimming pool
- Make a picture out of seashells
- Eat some fish (e.g. tuna sandwiches or fish fingers)
- Make our edible fish craft
- Go to the seaside
- Watch Finding Nemo
Birds
- Feed the ducks
- Watch Cuco’s Big Adventure (giveaway below!)
- Name a bird for every letter of the alphabet
- Make some junk model binoculars
- Go “twitching” in the garden with binoculars
- Make birds nest cakes
- Go for a walk and take photos of the birds you see
- Make a bird house
Unicorns
- Put on a magic show
- Watch My little Pony
- Make a unicorn horn out of a kitchen roll tube
- Ride on a horse or a donkey
- Watch Despicable Me 3
- Learn a magic trick
- Write your own potions (e.g. 1 tsp fairy dust)
- Have a go on a merry-go-round
Exercise
- Visit an indoor trampoline park
- Make an obstacle course in the garden and time
- Play WiiFit / JustDance
- Play football
- Play hopscotch
- Do some races (e.g. star jumps, scooter)
- Go on a bike ride
- Learn some stretches

After all the wet weather lately, we are looking forward to having a day down on our local beach – and today looks to be a sunny and warm one so we shall pack our buckets, spades and picnic and off we go……
we are heading to the beach
we have done loads- swimming, trips to the park, walk upto the woods, shopping drips, feeding the ducks, and a trip to the cinema
We have been visiting lots of family and friends, had trips to the park and zoo.
Baking, cooking, painting, arts and crafts, swimming, cinema and days out to theme parks, museums, zoos etc.

Walks in forests and at the beach, cinema, the zoo, meeting friends, ice cream, parks, and a trip to a theme park.

With all the bad weather we’ve had my little man has resorted to lots of LEGO building 😉 …we’ve managed to enjoy a few day trips to parks and been down to the seaside twice so not too bad. x

We’re are having picnics.
weve done picnics, park, nature walks and theme park so far. we still have a trip to the zoo and a weekend at the seaside before they go back to school

Days out in parks, woods, beach etc
wee went to greece for a week, we have alot visited alot of counntry parks and done loads of arts and crafts

Lots of long walks and picnics
My daughter and I took my grandchildren on the Lincoln Knights’ Trail where they explored Lincoln, visiting the Art Gallery, Museum and 3 dozen other areas, hunting the Knights and learning about the Battle of Lincoln. It was great fun for all and we completed the course even though we had to return a second day to do so.

We went beach, safari park, castles and so much more….love the summer
We had a lovely week in the lake district and I think we had the best of the weather too!!

We went to various parks, the beach and the zoo which was so much fun.

We went to visit St Fagans welsh folk museum which is just outside of Cardiff where we live, we went to play in the park, fed the ducks and the Koi at Roath Park, we visited the beach and Cardiff museum and we played a lot in the garden, did a lot of colouring and watched some Disney movies 😀
We did a lot of walking / hiking and camping in the Lake District over the Summer, and also had a family holiday in Rome, Italy.
We did lots of nature things. Took the boys for walks and had them undertake prearranged tasks. It kept them busy throughout the summer!
we love being out and about in nature, especially in brighton – we’ve got wildlife in the woods parks and beaches x
