Childs Farm Skin & Hair Care: Review & Giveaway

Collaborative Post

Both of my girls were born with masses of hair!

Everyone said that they would quickly lose it… but they didn’t. It just continued to grow and (yes I know I’m biased) they were two of the cutest babies I’ve ever seen! They looked like dolls.

Childs Farm Newborn Baby Lots of Hair

Less than a day old!

Jenny, my eldest, developed straight hair (very similar to mine). But Charis takes after her dad and has wild, curly hair. The baby shampoos just weren’t suitable for her and made her hair very dry. I googled how to care for curly hair and it became clear that conditioner was very important.

However, there’s no such thing as baby conditioner! I guess, with most babies being bald, there just isn’t a need for it!

But I was worried about using regular conditioner as it wouldn’t be as gentle on the skin as products developed specifically for babies.

Then I discovered Childs Farm.

Childs Farm

Childs Farm was launched in 2011 by a fellow mum who also wanted a conditioner that would be gentle on her children’s skin.

We bought a bottle of her Strawberry and Mint conditioner and it was perfect. It smelt delicious and really brought the bounce back to Charis’ hair. Two and a half years later, and it’s a family staple!

Childs Farm Haircare Products

Childs Farm range

So when Childs Farm offered to send us some of their other products to try, I jumped at the chance!

Each product we tried was beautifully scented. I didn’t think anything could top the strawberry conditioner, but my new favourite is definitely the blackberry and apple hair and body wash. Honestly, it tastes good enough to eat!

The detangle spray worked really well too. Charis’s hair gets knotty very quickly. A little squirt with the Childs Farm hair detangler makes the brush slide through much more easily (and smell like grapefruit! – bonus!).

Childs Farm Skin care and hair care

New products

Childs Farm have recently launched some new products too, including sun cream, after-sun, and biodegradable wipes. We were sent some of these to test out.

The sun cream is suitable for newborns upwards and is Factor 50+.

My kids love to be outside, so it’s really important to use a sun cream that will keep them protected. Like all the other Childs Farm products, the sun cream smells really nice and is suitable for sensitive skin. Even though it has a high SPF rating, the sun cream wasn’t claggy or difficult to rub in (which is good because my kids don’t stand still for long!)

Childs Farm Sun cream and aftersun

The after sun lotion contains organic coconut which gives it a lovely fragrance and helps to moisturise the skin.

I’m not entirely sold on the fragrance of the biodegradable wipes. It is supposed to be grapefruit and organic tea tree but I found it a bit heady. However, I’m pleased to see that they’re biodegradable because we get through a lot of wet wipes and I do worry about the environmental aspect.

Childs Farm also sell wipes specifically for babies that are fragrance-free (and still biodegradeable) so I might try those next time instead.

I love the Child’s Farm range! It really is lovely and I love the designs on the bottles. Wow, your kids really did have a lot of hair when they were born! Mine are both very light blonde and had hardly any hair at all, so they both looked bald for a long, long time haha x #blogcrush

The sun care products would be great to try as we are going on holiday and my daughter has eczema so I have to be careful as to skin products to use on her skin. This would be great.

Ah I’ve just had a sample of bath stuff from tumble tots goodie bag and it seems good. Would love to try the conditioner and detangler on my daughter’s wild hair as that gets knotty too. Will enter the comp and have a look! #BlogCrush

I’d like to try the sensitive conditioner on my daughter. She’s only 3 but has hair down her back and we have to wash and blow dry it every day to keep it in good condition.

I would love to try the sensitive shampoo on my Daughter. She suffers from eczema on her scalp and everything I try seems to irritate her
