How A Bakerdays Cake Saved My Birthday (Giveaway)

Collaborative post

Bakerdays saved my birthday! Them and a pizza takeaway, courtesy of my hubby.

Now I know you think I’m over-exaggerating, but when this little caked popped through my letterbox on Friday afternoon, I nearly burst into tears.

Why?

Because it’s my 30th birthday and I’m ill with the Flu!

And not just me – my two daughters have it too. That means I can’t tuck myself into bed with a mug of hot chocolate and sit it out. Oh no, I have to nurse them and cuddle them and force my aching, stiff joints from under the blankets to go and get them drinks and medicine and teddies.

But when the Bakerdays parcel arrived, the mood in our house changed…

Bakerdays Letterbox Cake

Bakerdays have created a cake that can fit through a letterbox (£14.99).

This little parcel arriving made my day!

That means you can surprise anyone in the UK with a scrumptious treat whenever you like! And you don’t need to worry about whether they’ll be in or not to collect the parcel (I hate that, don’t you?!) because the Postie can just pop it through the door. Job done!

What You Get

I’ll be honest, when I heard it was a cake that could fit through the letterbox, I was expecting little more than a glorified cupcake… But it’s not – it’s a real cake! We’re a family of 4 and we each had a piece (plus an extra slither) each, and there’s still another portion left in the tin.

And that’s a definite plus point too – it comes in its own cake tin. My daughter has already placed dibs on the tin once we’ve finished with it so she can pretend to bake cakes in her toy kitchen. But it means that the cake arrives in pristine condition.

The Bakerdays cake looked stunning

Then inside the box, we were also sent 3 balloons, 2 candles, a party horn, and a card saying ‘enjoy’. It was a lovely touch and one I certainly wasn’t expecting.

The Icing On The Cake

But the real icing on the cake (yes I’m very proud of that pun!), is that you can completely personalise your cake. There are hundreds of designs to choose from, lots of categories to give you some ideas, or you can even upload a photograph to go on there.

The images are printed onto delicious fondant icing (and regular readers will know what a fan I am of fondant icing). Being a house full of girls (well hubby lives here too but he’s very outnumbered), we had to choose a princess cake.

Ours was a very tasty vanilla sponge with the perfect icing-to-sponge ratio. Yum! My eldest even remarked that it was “better than Pizza Hut!” (there are no greater foodie compliments in her world!)

We are thoroughly sold on the idea and I’ve already picked out the design I’m going to send to my sister-in-law once her baby is born next month!

I am so excited that I’ve just ordered one of these for Christmas. If I were to win, I’d give it to my nephews to share – all 3 of them have birthdays within a 4 week period! #ablogginggoodtime

What a fantastic idea. (And happy birthday, I hope you and the girls are feeling better now)
If I were to win the cake, I’d send it to my mother and father-in-law who are having a hard time at the moment and they’re too far away for me to pop in with cake myself 🙂

We are a bit better but it’s taken almost 2 weeks! Thanks for asking, Suzie. I love that you can post these cakes – my family live far away too but I’m definitely going to be posting them cakes now that I know about it!

I’d post a cake to my Foster Mum! She looks after my daughter, Daisy who is 1, every Friday. I pay her in cakes but she never gets time to sit and enjoy her cake as she is always running around after Daisy. A cake in the post would be ideal as she is rarely home long enough for me to arrange for her to stay home and sign for a parcel! She helps everyone out and is always there for us all. I’d love to say thanks to her for being there in the way I always say thanks… with CAKE 😀

This is terrible but I would keep it for myself lol, I got my son a bakersday birthday cake last year and it was delicious, it’s so fab that this comes with the mail!

You poor thing being ill with flu on your birthday AND having to look after two sick children. I’m really glad that the cake and pizza cheered you up again. Situations like that do make you appreciate the little things! Hope you are all better now x #MarvMondays

Oh it really was awful! I’m hoping we’ve had our quota of illnesses for at least the next 12 months now! (although with young kids around that’s hardly likely!). The cake was yummy though. L

I would definitely be giving this to my partner as his birthday is two days after Christmas!
What a lovely idea. It’s so annoying having to make sure someone is home #MarvMondays

I’d have to be cheeky and keep the cake for myself! I’m trying to wean myself off eating biscuits every time I make a cuppa so cake would be a good alternative, right? haha x #MarvMondays
