Bloggers Bluff #04: The DADgum Blog

Bloggers Bluff is the new game on the block for bloggers!

The idea is simple: our blogger of the week will come up with 3 outrageous, little-known stories / facts about him- or herself. Two of these stories will be true one will be completely made up! Then we’ll open up the comments section and you can get guessing which one is the Bloggers Bluff.

Are YOU game?!

Last Week’s Reveal

Last week, Kate from The Less-Refined Mind took part. I can now reveal that her Bloggers Bluff was:

I once cooked dinner for Jamie Oliver. I was terrified but thankfully it seemed to go down okay – so long as he wasn’t bluffing to save my feelings! I played it safe and made my signature dish of moussaka for main and a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake for dessert: decadent but diviiiiiine, if I do say so myself.

This Week

This week, I am joined by TJ from The DADgum Blog.

Before we start the bluff, let’s find out a little more about him.

How long have you been blogging?

The first DADgum Blog went up on July 11 of this year, so I’ve only been in the blogging biz for about two months.

What’s the best thing about blogging?

The best things about blogging are:

  • the community
  • the motivation to keep writing

I’ve met some awesome people from all over the world in my short time as a parenting blogger. I never realized how vast the community is!

And having my own blog keeps me motivated to continue honing my craft and improving as a writer, which is crucial if I ever want to get published. And I definitely want to get published.

Describe your blog in 3 sentences or less.

The DADgum Blog is all about becoming the best dadgum dad or mom – mum to my friends across the pond – you can be sharing parenting advice, ideas, and experiences.

I’ve said from the beginning that I would consider this blog a success if I could help just one person deal with just one parenting problem. I hope I’ve done that for someone.

What’s your best piece of blogging advice?

Blogging is about writing something that moves you, something about which you are passionate. If you’re passionate about your subject matter, the rest is easy.

Now let’s get down to business! Here are TJ’s three Bloggers Bluff submissions:

Bloggers Bluff A

I’ve had a lot of jobs. Going back to when I was sixteen, I’ve been, in no particular order:

  • a restaurant cook
  • a server
  • a lifeguard
  • a casino supervisor
  • a postman
  • a marketing representative
  • a financial analyst
  • a project manager
  • a travelling business consultant
  • a pricing manager

All these different positions have certainly helped make me more well-rounded, but I can’t shake the feeling that maybe I just can’t keep a job.Bloggers Bluff The Dadgum Blog

Bloggers Bluff B

Looking back at some of the things I did in my youth, I find it incredible that I have never broken a bone. Growing up in a town of less than 6,000 people means teenage boys have to be really creative when looking for things to do. I’ve jumped off thirty-foot cliffs into water, driven cars way too fast, played a few different sports in high school, and drunk more college beers than  can remember. Somehow I’ve managed to stay in one piece through it all. Perhaps karma is planning on taking out my good fortune on my boys.

Bloggers Bluff C

I have had the incredibly great fortune of having seen Garth Brooks in concert twenty-four times in eleven different cities. After my parents divorced in the mid-nineties, my mom would take my brother and me to five or six concerts every summer. I first saw Garth in St. Louis in 1995, which started me on a bit of a quest, I guess you could say. I’ve since traveled to Kansas City, Tulsa, Cleveland, Chicago, Nashvile, Pittsburgh, Denver, Little Rock, Santa Fe, and Atlanta. You can be sure that the next time he goes on tour, I’ll be there!

So guys, which is the bluff??

    Blast I missed last week.
hmmm I’m guessing TJs Bluff is A, although I could pretty much picture him doing all of this. And you dont mess with Garth Brooks fans, so on the of chance C is true I’m not guessing that one 😀

C just sounds too ridiculous to be true so I’m going with that. Loving this series! Think I got the last one right? Thanks for linking up to #coolmumclub lovely xx

What a great series, and I am thrilled to know i got last weeks correct! I rewarded myself with a giant cup of hot coffee before anyone in the house awoke. Then, I read on. I think A is the puffer bluffer this time…. either way, brilliant! #ablogginggoodtime

Hehe! Well done – you definitely deserve a hot coffee for getting it right!

I’m so happy to hear that you’re enjoying the series, Lisa, and thank you for coming back again this week 🙂

Yes that’s a great reason, isn’t it! I know myself that I’ve improved as a writer since having the opportunity to write every day (I’m working on being less waffle-y and more to the point).

I feel like a failure for just getting to these! I must have really fooled everyone since there were guesses across the board. Lucy, I’m not sure we can be friends anymore since you had to Google Garth! (He doesn’t know it, but he and I are on a first-name basis.) Just kidding; my list of unseen classic movies is embarrassingly long, so I can certainly relate. 🙂

    Great series! Keep these coming!
